Sew & Tell Friday: Psychedelic Black Eyed Susan

I had quite a bit of fabric left over from a quilt I made with French General's Rouenneries fabric. (A secret quilt or I would have a link to it. What was I thinking finishing a Christmas 2010 Project in February?) Most of the leftovers were from the layer cake, but not enough of one solid color to make a uniform background for my Black Eyed Susan Wall Hanging:
My eyes! What's happening to me?!! I hung this up to take photos and I couldn't stop looking at it. It feels like this pattern is hypnotizing me. "You are very relaxed... You are also a chicken..."

I used the same Quiltsmart interfacing (the Rob Pete pattern that I used for the Pumpkin Seed stuff I made). This time I cut 8" squares of solid fabric in half to create triangles for the background:
Each of the triangles has half of a "seed" sewn onto one edge of it. I alternated using the long side of the triangle, measuring four inches from the edge, and the short side, measuring one inch from the edge, to place the petals. The petals all had to be turned inside-out and fused to the triangle before I sewed them on with clear thread.
I used fusible interfacing to make the circles for the center of each flower. That meant I didn't need my flower points to match up, but by some miracle all my points were perfect and I felt kind of bad about putting a circle on top of them. If I hadn't, though, I think the overall effect would have been even more psychedelic. For the back I used one piece of Rouenneries yardage that is now no good to me because it's exactly too short to use for the other quilt I made. Curses! What am I supposed to do with three yards of that fabric?! WHAT?!

Hey, anyone need three yards of fabric?

I used a walking foot to do the machine quilting on my sewing machine. I think I'm getting better at that.
I decided to put this wall hanging in my etsy shop since it's trying to steal my soul and it doesn't "go" in any room in my house. Happy Sew & Tell Friday!
