Princess Tea Party

Bridget has a kindred spirit out there and her name is Abbey.  Their friendship is destiny!  Abbey is my cousin, Ashley's, oldest daughter.  Ashley and I have been hatching a plan to have a tea party together for months and our plans worked yesterday.  These ladies are as beautiful in real life as they are in Ashley's amazing photos.  It took about 30 seconds before Bridget and Abbey were squealing and holding hands.  Bonus that Abbey's little sister, Hayden, wanted to be in on EVERYthing the girls were doing.  Hayden left her lunch to "go play" and emerged from Bridget's room a few minutes later wearing pink plastic heels and carrying a baby doll in a doll car seat.  Yep - that's as cute as it sounds.

Before we could get down to business and eat, Ashley and I took photos of the table.  Her photos will be good, if you'd rather wait.  Meanwhile:
The menu included pears, Curry Chicken Salad, Lion House Rolls (from Deseret Book - I was done cooking), and a homemade Red Velvet Cake.
Each place setting included a pewter plate, a glass salad plate, a fruit bowl with platinum trim, and a platinum trimmed teacup and saucer.
I used one of my pumpkin seed table toppers and more metal accents to compliment the pewter plates.
Aren't these so cute?!  That salt bird looks annoyed at the pepper bird.
This teapot has juice in it.  Abbey declared that it was her favorite because it was pink. :)
I may be boneheaded at cutting a cake horizontally, but it tasted heavenly.  Did you know there are TWO TABLESPOONS of red food coloring in a red velvet cake?  Holy cow.  Hayden ate most of Ashley's piece of cake while we were busy taking pictures of her:
She knew she didn't have a lot of time, so it was imperative that she take enormous bites.
For some reason this cake makes you want to do a kissy face.  Whatever, just an excuse to include this next photo even though Abbey's eyes are closed and there is a brush on the banister behind everyone, which bugs me to no end.  Cake face!

We need to make this an annual event, I think.  I'd say weekly, but geography is not on our side. :(

How fun! I had a tea party a couple of years ago, with my girlfriends. It was awesome. I went downtown and bought clotted cream, and scones, and everything.

What kind of mothers don't let their daughters eat red velvet cake on the white tablecloth? :)

I love this idea! Inspiring!

Awwww, shucks! Your last two posts have made me sad. I so wish we lived close enough to have tea parties and visit barns while wearing tiaras. Stupid geography! I want to kiss your red velvet cake, too. Recipe, please!

Oh. MY. GOODNESS. That sweet baby girl (the little blonde) with the cake all over her face...ah, I almost fell over, she's just too cute!! All three of them, absolutely precious. I found your tablescape over at Between Naps and I'm so glad I did. What a beautiful spread! My favorite was the little birdie salt & pepper shakers. Where did you get them, may I ask? I LOVE them!

Happy Birthsday for the little Fairy. This was the funniest and nicest tablescape I have ever seen. And thats because of the little cute girls. So much fun to see this cute face with all the cake on it. Lovely. Lucky childhood. Thank you for that fun. And last not least, the cake looks very impressive and I like the whimsical teapot and the adorable quilt.
