Sew & Tell Friday: Christmas Lone Star & Rural Jardin Double Wedding Ring

My husband has been at scout camp all week.  There hasn't been someone here to tell me to "put the crack pipe down" (that's how he tells me it's time to stop sewing) and I can't sleep.  Also, I served Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup for dinner last night.  I am explaining because what you're about to see is not right - I should not be able to do this much in seven days.  (Bridget asked for chicken soup.  That's the kind we had.)  Here we go...

A Lone Star wall hanging/lap quilt for Christmas!  This is mostly Riley Blake's "Be Merry" from last year (thanks, I will be merry to the tune of 70% off).  I thought it would be cute as a lone star:
I used flannel for the back, just in case someone (that's right, it's for sale - I'm making another one for me because I love it) wants to use it as a lap quilt.  Right before I sent it off to the long arm quilter I hurried and cut the back and thought I had enough.  I was off by about an inch and a half.  Curse you, eye ball measurement!  So, a stripe of red with snowflakes.  (Isn't that quilting adorable?  She used a snowflake pattern.)
Anyway, it's a delicious quilt.  Thank goodness I bought 1000 yards of that fabric because it was ON SALE in January.  Now I can make a lone star a week for a year!

I got into the mood to finish the rest of my arcs for my double wedding ring quilt.  I needed 64, remember, and I was only able to finish up 26 during my Memorial Day road trip.  Somehow I ended up with 66.  More evidence that I'm possessed?  Maybe.  Anyway, it's just the top, so stop freaking out. :)  It's going to be so beautiful!
What better way to use every single fabric in the Rural Jardin line than a double wedding ring?  I'm so proud of those diamonds.  I've never had them come out so well.
The background is that unbleached muslin with the little flecks in it.  It's heavier than regular fabric, which I love.
More on this project later, no doubt.  It's for my wall in my bedroom.  My big, empty wall.  Does anyone know a long arm quilter who wants to do this for free?  No?  Nuts.

The winner of my Sweet Give-Away with Uncle Rico (Amy doesn't know I'm calling it that - shhhh) is announced on her Sew & Tell Friday post.  I'm hosting again - get ready for some reruns of this post.  Ha!

You are so talented! I love seeing all the things that keep you busy. Well, besides Bridget! Speaking of Bridget, it might be my fault she wanted chicken soup. On Sunday I asked what the kids' favorite food was and she said "mmmm, my mom's chicken soup. so yummy!" Now I know your secret! teehee!!

LOVE the Lone Star and would love to make one that doesn't require bias cuts and finicky piecing.
The Double Wedding ring is beautiful but tooooo fussy for me to make. ;)

All I can say is WOW! I love your new quilts. What pattern did you use for both? I ask because these two designs are something I have always wanted to do but have put them off. I haven't used any of my Rural Jardain fabrics yet and I'd love a double wedding ring too! Your machine applique is perfect! Enough compliments? No, one more, I am really enjoying your heritage posts. You have a beautiful family. Lucky you to have such a treasure!

Nicole the wall quilt is perfect for Christmas! It's my favorite holiday so it rocks! Wow the double wedding ring quilt looks fantastic! I've been trying to make one for years. But it seems I never get enough time.

I'm just now finding you, and I'm so glad. Your quilts are gorgeous. I want to make a quilt with a bunch of little lone stars, so I just bought the quiltsmart panels to try. Unfortunately, I have no fabric. I want what you have. *sigh* I wish we were neighbors. I'd invite you over for a quilting party.
