Family History Photo of the Week: Halloween in Winston-Salem 2003

I noticed this photo in our Sisters' Cookbook the other day and it made me smile, as it always does.  I took a trip to North Carolina in the fall of 2003 to visit with each of my sisters who lived there at the time (four of them!).  I was at Allyn and Aron's on Halloween and Melissa, Jeff, and Harrison came to celebrate as well.  One of our activities was pumpkin carving.  Emma was STOKED about this activity until she found out what was inside the pumpkins.
If I remember correctly, Allyn carefully put all the pumpkin seeds on a cookie sheet to toast them.  Then Jeff and I somehow burned them and vowed to keep silent about it.  But Allyn started to blame the kids, so I went ahead and busted Jeff.  Good times.

Memories . . . Jeff had a med school interview in Winston-Salem that day. That was also the year that Lilja said she wanted to go as Jeff for Halloween. :)

look at little emma! she was so cute. that was a fun day. i don't remember the burned pumpkin seeds, but how would it have been the kids' fault? i do remember going to nana and pawpaw's that night and pawpaw referring to harrison as "name sake". yeah, my sister would name her child after her sister's grandfather in law...whatever.
