I found another one (#12) in the used books for sale at the library for $.50. What else is on your to-listen list?

Melissa - I rented The Three Amigos because I'm not quite done with Steve Martin. You're right about the book being a history of stand-up comedy. You'd like the lady detective books. (I thought I was much lighter than usual this month.:))

Allyn - One of my favorite things to do is window-shop for books to put on my To Read list. I look for new stuff from authors I've enjoyed before and I look at all the recommendations that are just for me on Amazon and on Goodreads because they base their recommendations on what I've already read. I've been lucky so far this year not to have read anything awful, so my system must be working.Nicolehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08947921741748444654noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2897710562041393560.post-12688914456089205822012-08-02T12:14:51.644-06:002012-08-02T12:14:51.644-06:00seriously, how do you choose? i have the HARDEST ...seriously, how do you choose? i have the HARDEST time being brave and reading contemporary authors. it is usually such shallow writing that i feel dumb after having spent time on them. i want to feel smarter if i am going to invest time on something.
i think i heard something about this chick with the unbelievable life. like there is a movie coming out about it. great...uplifting, i guess.allynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17146476314262574164noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2897710562041393560.post-33886822557306542542012-08-02T08:30:11.014-06:002012-08-02T08:30:11.014-06:00I LOVED Born Standing Up! I went and watched a bunch of Youtube videos of his standup after I read it and it's pretty great stuff. Look up "the great fly-dini." (I think that's what it's called.) It's an act he did on the Tonight Show.

If you read #1 Ladies Detective Agency, let me know how it goes.

It amazes me that you can read such heavy stuff with all the craziness in your life. Well done you!melissahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12146892050711321072noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2897710562041393560.post-37856237739347085382012-08-01T08:44:41.526-06:002012-08-01T08:44:41.526-06:00I just read "The Glass Castle" last mont...I just read "The Glass Castle" last month. The story of "Breaking Night" reminds me of that. Amazing to even imagine that kids have to live like that, and even more amazing when they can rise above it.

I'm so looking forward to school starting so I can get back to my daily morning walk listening to a book on my Ipod. The Steve Martin book is going on the list for sure. Just watched "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" last week. Love Steve M!

Have you read any of "The #1 Ladies Detective Agency" series by Alexander McCall Smith? They're my absolute favorites and I think you would love them. I have then all if you want to borrow them.Jillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05832602177068743447noreply@blogger.com
