I took a basket full of stuff to turn on my Memorial Day road trip. Last week I sewed 31 pieces for a Grandmother's Flower Garden baby blanket and after cutting and turning all of them (mostly in the car between cemeteries), I couldn't stand the sight of it anymore and sent it off to a long-arm quilter today. I also got 26 arcs ready for my Double Wedding Ring wall hanging for my bedroom. Yay, but I need 64 and now I'll have to wait a while to get in the mood for that one again. Sad.
To get out of my funk, created by not finishing anything and yet doing a lot, I hurried and made a table runner out of Rural Jardin leftovers:
I thought I'd switch things up a bit and put one of my books on it. Rural Jardin fabric looks like it belongs in a room with a fireplace and a lot of books.
Yesterday I made two car seat blankets. I didn't go to the fabric store looking for "boy" fabric, so of course I found some:
Hey! I forgot! I won a MAJOR AWARD for my quilt at the Eagle Mountain Quilt Show last week. Okay, it was second place in the beginner category. Still! I was expecting at the most a $20 gift card somewhere (because it cost me $15 to put the quilt in the show and I figured they'd at least give me my money back), but I got a Quiltsmart pattern and interfacing (and it was one I didn't already have), a book of 1000 quilt block patterns (with their names - love knowing that kind of stuff), and a package of 16" fabrics. Also, a medal:
Bridget has been wearing it around the house. Why is everyone on this medal doing something athletic? No sewing machine?
Happy Sew & Tell Friday! Pink Suede Shoes is hosting this week and she is so nice, go check it out. :)

pretty productive for a non-finish week, i must say. i really do love that rural jardin and the carseat covers are quite sweet.

Congratulations! I love all of it!
I love those car seat covers. My boys are too old for them now unfortunately :(. But maybe sew some up for some friends?
congratulations!! i love these adorable car seat covers
Hooray for your major award! The medal is kind of odd, huh? Is that girl up in the corner doing aeorbics? Anyway, it's great that you won, and the car seat blanket with the cars and buses is adorable.
Those carseat blankets rock! I would love to know how you made those! I have two little ones on the way and those are just really cute and useful!
I was actually wondering the same thing while I was looking at the medal! LOL maybe because they couldn't find something that wasn't athletic at the trophy shop?
Haha, that medal cracks me up! Congrats, enjoy your winnings!
Congratulations on your win!
I just love your table runners..I think I've mentioned that a time or 2..but it bears repeating ;)
Congratulations!
Beautiful table runner...can't wait to see you GMFG.
I'm working on a DWR too-mine's big-double bed size and I'm finally sitting down at the frame and hand quilting on it again.
Just read your blog on winning at the quilt show. Everything you do is beautiful. Congrats on the medal and gifts. I know Bridgee will get a lot of wear out of the medal. Love, Denise
How about if I provide the fireplace and books, and let you know where to send the quilt? :-) Just thought I'd give it a try.
I loves reading this. You have class, style, talent, and a great sense of humor.
Congratulations on the quilt show award! How exciting!
Shannon said she just bought a car seat cover from you and she loves it. I've got a baby shower coming up. I have to come get one.
