The Loser, The Winner, The First Timer

We were inches away from being home from vacation when tragedy occurred. Brian and I forgot that his bike was on top of the car in a bike rack and drove into the garage. The crash was surprisingly quiet. It didn't prepare us for the total destruction of his bike, the ruining of the cross bar on the car, the almost hole in the top of the car, and the scrape in the stucco on the garage door frame. Dun DUN dun dun. (That's how all the big songs end, right?) Before you feel too sorry for him, he's getting a new bike out of this.

I won a queen-size quilt from The Village Quilt Shop! Makenzie, Gabriel, Bridget and I were out shopping and I entered a drawing (as usual) and won. I've added it to my collection of Cheap or Free decor. (I once bought a queen-size velvet and silk quilt for $3. It was in one of the bins at the Eddie Bauer that was going out of business. Suckas!)

Last, but never least, Bridget tried a popsicle for the first time. I'd forgotten what it was like to eat a popsicle without a plan. You can't just lick it until it's gone, you have to take bites and hold it away from your body and push it up the stick as it starts to disappear. Oh, well. Bridget and Clara have plenty of time to learn the subtleties.

Nice quilt! I'm keeping up with your basement. Matt says our upstairs bathroom should be functional in 2 DAYS!!! I'll believe it when I see it.

Yikes, awesome - I never win anything, and so cute...and thanks for the blog post. I have the flu, and am so bored. Does nobody blog on memorial day weekend? Is everyone out having fun?

Seriously! Where is everyone? Only stupid movies on TV, too. Boooo. And Katy, it will be EASY to keep up with my basement progress. Sigh.

once again, that totally sucks about brian's bike. craziness that you won (i never win). just wait until she tries ice cream cones. the subtleties multiply. you might want to have preparation classes first.

That picture is great! How long did they sit and mourn the lost popsicle? How cute. Sorry about the bike, but I wish I could have seen it all go down. :)
