You Don't Need No Stinkin' Door

We have walls in the basement! I was joking about having a team come in and finish up the basement in 48 hours, but it only took the crew 4 hours to hang sheet rock yesterday. Tears came to my eyes when I realized it would have taken Brian MONTHS to do that on his own. Amazing. Melissa was with me for my first walk through and now I know it was because she was hoping to see me cry. We were just getting back from touring a few houses in the Parade of Homes with Makenzie and Gabriel. Even though I had just seen huge homes with theater rooms (when did that become essential?) and closets bigger than my whole bedroom, my basement was the most beautiful thing I saw all day yesterday. :)

Melissa is too cool for school.

Gabriel is a man with a plan.

The big truck, the two guys wondering what I'm taking pictures of (don't worry, I'm not a cop!), a close-up of the sheet rock.

Bridget helping me watch the drywall delivery. (Check out my lovely daisies about to bloom in the background.)

Once all the walls were up and Brian and I were walking through our basement, giddy with excitement, we noticed there was no door framed in for the bathroom. Of course we want a door to the bathroom. Brian had to do some last minute cutting and nailing with the help of Kyle (of Kyle's Cutting Corners Construction).

nicole, you slay me! how do you come up with those names? it would take me three weeks to have come up with kyle's cutting corners construction. hilarious.
i was wondering about the bathroom when looking at the frame basement pictures, not knowing what the real plan was. thank heaven for kyle.
i am so excited for you.

You are totally right...who needs a door?

Yeah - Brian suggested using cool strings of beads for a door and I thought it would be fun to have cowboy doors. I have nightmares about bathrooms with no walls or doors. (P.S. Kyle is the one who came up with the name for his company, Allyn. Alliteration helps people remember it better, don't you think, Drusilla?)
