I am letting Bridget sleep in order to avoid the tantrum insanity we experienced yesterday when I woke her too early from her nap. The experience reminded me that my sisters and I used to quote the March Hare when one of us was freaking out. Offering a clattering cup (because his hands are shaking in fear) of tea to Alice, "How about a nice cup of tea?" The only difference between Alice and Bridget is that Alice had a reason for losing her mind (not called the "Mad" Hatter for nothing) and Bridget did not. Agency is a difficult muscle to exercise. Now I know not to give her choices when she's tired. Done and done. (Btw, in my search for a picture of the March Hare, I came across Lenny's Tribute Website to all things Alice in Wonderland. What a strange hobby.)
Speaking of tea ("I never thought of tea!"), I had lunch with Angie in London yesterday. Okay, it was at Elizabeth's bakery in Salt Lake, but we talked about her recent trip to London, I ordered tea (herbal peach - delightful) and a meat pie with a "tasty" sauce, and there was a framed photo of the Queen on a shelf near our table. Tea pots were the main decoration in this place. It made me miss my own collection of tea pots. Displaying them in my dining room (the only place it would really make sense) would make it a little too girly, don't you think Drusilla? (Since I started with a well-worn quote from one of the sisters' favorite movies, I thought I'd throw another one in there.) Either way, love lunch with Angie.
I have no segue for this subject, but I'd like to appeal to all the Home Artists out there to help me make the State Fair cool again. Let's take it back from all the circus freaks and smelly vendors selling those barrettes with the feathers woven into them (circa 1984 - not vintage yet)! Who is with me?! I've entered my jams in the fair since 2005. The first year I took home a 4th place (out of what appeared to be 6 entries) ribbon for my raspberry jam. The next year I entered raspberry and blackberry jam and became the Utah State Champion of Raspberry and Blackberry Jam. Two blue ribbons! I also got a red ribbon for my bread that year and didn't win the Pork Recipe contest. When was the last time you won a ribbon? And $4.50 per blue ribbon? (I put my blackberry jam in the county fair last year and got a Zip-lock baggie with $3.50 in change for winning a blue ribbon. AWESOME.) It feels just as good now as it did back in 4-H. And knowing how to make perfect jam? Priceless. I only ask that you don't try to win the Governor's Favorite Pie Contest because I've already hatched a diabolical plan with Jen for that one. Mwahahahahaha!
Lastly, I have ants in my house. They crawl in between my toes while I type. They hang out under the sink, by the stairs, next to the garage door. If I can't tell where they're coming from, how do I stop them from coming in?
Lastly for real, I found a typo in the Ensign today.
Off I go to find Oingo Boingo on Playlist so that Melissa will know what she's been missing all her life.

I love Elizabeth's! I threw a tea party a couple months ago, and went to The London Market to get crumpets. I popped in afterwards and got some goodies. Their teapot collection is seriously cool. Have you ever been to The Beehive Tea Room? I've been wanting to go, but haven't ever made it.
Oh, and I've never been to the State fair, but I am definitely going this year. And to the circus.
You need to lighten up on people and their grammatical errors, sheesh! Hisself, the Ensign, what next?? Hahaha!
Did you really have crumpets? I love crumpets!
Nicole, I see you have Etiquette Hell on your website list! Are you a member? I'm an avid posted on the message board.
I could spend all day in Etiquette Hell! (I just discovered it recently.) Is it worth it to become a member? Would it mean I'd have to spend more time in public so that I'd have something/one to write about?
Andrea, I hope you read my post after I corrected the spelling error in the sentence before I took the Ensign to task. Ha! (P.S. They spelled Seventy, S-e-v-e-n-t-y-w.)
You just might. I actually had the highest post count at one point, but I've been more of a lurker, lately. I think some posters are full of it. How can you know THAT many crazy, ill mannered people?
I can't believe they gave you $3.50 for your jam! Why bother? I can not stop laughing at that. I am very impressed with your State Fair efforts. If I could do anything other than spend lots of money on makeup, I'd give it a try. Hey, let me know when you guys are coming this way with your award winning pie. Maybe we can meet up. I'd like to see that pie. Do crowds really gather for the judging like on "Little House on the Prairie"? I'd like to see that, too.
I love having lunch with you! Elizabeth's really was good.
