Brian is back from the deer hunt! He came home early, as always. It's my theory that Brian and his brothers and his Dad like to talk about hunting, dream about hunting, plan for hunts months and months in advance, buy hunting equipment, and tell the same hunting stories over and over again, but when it comes right down to it, sleeping in a tent or a trailer with three fog horns and a bugle for more than five nights in a row is nobody's cup of tea. None of them got a deer this year. And Brian even had this scary beard for a month and a half.
I know, right? How could he go wrong looking the part like he did.
Today we finally took a drive to American Fork Canyon to take pictures of ourselves and especially Bridget. The other day Bridget was stroking the quilt on her bed and saying, "So cute! Bridget's blanket. So cute. Allyn make it?" Knife to my heart. I made that quilt! Sure, Aunt Allyn is more talented, more creative, more fun... I guess that was a reasonable question. (Here's a picture of the quilt because it's cute and I can't stop using the macro function.) I decided to prove to Bridget that Mommy can do stuff too, so I made her Halloween costume. (Aunt Makenzie did 90% of the apron, but I made the whole hooded cape myself! And I even used a pattern.)
How cute is that?! It's killing me. :)
We took a few family photos since I recently figured out the self-timer function on my camera. (That operator's manual is a great read.)
And one last picture from the canyon.

That cape is adorable, you should sell them, I'd buy one.
I love the new blog look and the family photo!
I'm sort of glad Adam doesn't go hunting anymore.
Don't you love being proud of yourself? The cape is killin' me too, because even when I use a pattern it doesn't turn out even close to that good. Hopefully your mom and Melissa have forgotten all about my senior prom dress.
In case you didn't see my response to you on my blog, I have to be reassured and inspired everyday to stick to my budget too.
Nicole, I love your pictures. And your family is beautiful! Some day I hope to meet your little girl.
Would you mind if I added you to my blog? I had know idea so many family members have their own blog.
Yes, Dannel, all the cool kids are here. :) Of course you can add me to your blog! Booo for being private, though. That means you need to send me an invite. :)
Are you kidding me--that costume is amazing! I loved the idea when you told me what you were doing, but it turned out even cuter than I was picturing. The down side to blogs is you'll see when I copy your idea next year ;)
That picture...the cape...the bedspread...all great...
It's all good in the hood!
the time has come for drastic measures. it is time for hypnosis. just record yourself saying "mommy is clever, crafty and cool" over and over. play it while bridgie is sleeping. then when she plays the queen of hearts during a random game of solitaire she will be puddy in your hands. i saw it on a movie. it totally worked.
the hood is so stinking cute ... and the basket! it is all too perfect. I LOVE IT!
isn't autumn the most wonderful time of year!
Ah, Kikka's prom dress. Thanks for the laugh, Keeks.
That hood is even cuter in person.
p.s. Everything handmade my kids have ever worn was made by grandma or an aunt. Be proud you don't just have bowstaff skills, man.
Little Red is adorable. As is your whole family. :)
