What Do I Do All Day?

I'm on vacation from piano teaching (and my problems) and I should have all kinds of free time. I'm too busy freaking out. Brian got a new job (yay, Brian!) and he needs to be able to work from home starting a week ago. I don't know how other people do it, but when Brian is working from home, that means Bridget and I can't be here too. Instead of patiently waiting for me to shower and helping me with the laundry and dishes and whatever, she's sitting next to Daddy messing with stuff. And Brian hogs the computer.

So, we're finishing the basement. FOR REAL. On Saturday Rob the Electrician came over and installed all the switches, outlets, lights, and CO/fire alarms.
As you can see from this perfectly clear photo, the recessed lighting is all trimmed out and fancy now. I won't post the other fuzzy pictures of the lights.

Today a guy from White Water came and did the tub surround and window sills in less time than it took me to make a car seat blanket. (He didn't have a 2 year-old asking him to hold her, though.) If you haven't discovered the joy of a curved shower curtain rod, go discover it now.
Somewhere between trips to Lowe's and Home Depot (I found Reveal lightbulbs $.50 for a package of 2!) and sewing like crazy I got really sick. The pukes. It only lasted about 24 hours, 13 of which were spent sleeping. Since Kristi and I like to do stuff together, she got sick with the same thing the day after I had it. Today we celebrated our healthiness by eating lunch together while our little girls squealed with delight. When we told them it was time for naps (as in, time for Clara to go home) this is what I found:
Yeah - Bridget and Clara in a twin-size bed together - that spells nap time to me for sure. Baby brother is always accommodating - here he is after he heard about nap time.
Kristi bravely crashed the party while I was ever-so-helpful taking pictures. Their expressions remind me of the end of the tea party on the ceiling in Mary Poppins.
"That is sad."

It's a great feeling to see things get finished isn't it? I love my curved shower curtain, by the way, and recommend it to everyone!

Melissa - we can at least get a good game of Catch going until the furniture is in there. Never bring hockey sticks and/or pucks to my house.

Erin, I love seeing the pictures of your house on Facebook. I'm totally taking the easy way out with a new home. Good job making your gingerbread house look so beautiful all the time.

The basement is awesome! I'll have to come see when it's completely finished, and then maybe move in.

Glad you're feeling better.

The poor cat. I can't believe the things you come up with sometimes. I'm so excited to see your basement. It's like you're getting a new member of the family.
