Last fall my friend, Kristi, showed me how to make a blanket to cover a car seat and I made one for my sister-in-law, Debbie. Then Kristi and I discovered that we have a never-ending supply of friends having babies and going to the fabric store all the time was FUN. We even had a few people ask us if they could buy one from us. Huh? So we sold some, too.
Since then we have learned a few things. We modified the design as Kristi crash-tested a few of the car seat blankets on Edward's car seat. (Not really "crashed.") It has been creatively rewarding and a nice outlet.
Today we opened an etsy shop (it's like an online craft fair, in case you've never heard of it) called The Butterfly Net. Mostly we're selling the car seat blankets, but we're also going to have personalized thank-you notes and maybe something fun made by my ridiculously talented sister, Allyn. There are other car seat blankets out there (some are WAY out there), but none of them are the same design we're doing and all of them are more expensive. (I'm not just saying that. Cut-throat businesswomen we are not.) So, please check out our shop! It won't take long since there is hardly anything for sale yet. :)

This is exciting! You make such cute products.
Oh, and coming to a meet and greet doesn't make or break our relationship. Much. Sob. ;)
Awesome!! I love your logo! Who designed that?
I was hoping someone would ask about the logo because my brother-in-law, Ben, did it and he's way too modest about it. (You should see the business cards - I want to eat them they're so cute.) His business is on my sidebar - it's called Pencil Game Graphics.
And thanks, Kristina. :)
I'm going to visit your shop just because of the logo :)
(Seriously, you can't underestimate the power of a good logo)
Is he the one who did Allyn's Christmas tree card a couple years ago. Genius. When I can afford a graphic designer, I'll be calling him!
Your products are adorable! So is your logo. Can I put that on my blog?
very exciting. i hope to get stuff done to put up very soon. LOVE THE LOGO. it is abstract and yet so perfect. maybe it just took me too long to figure out it was a butterfly. after i caught that i was in love. ben is a genius. i think that everyone who has received one of the covers needs to make a comment on your shop site. feedback is a major part of selling.
that's what i always say.
