1. I've been working on several projects, one of which is quilting. I've made a goal (complete with a class at the local quilt store where I am the youngest person by 30 years) to learn how to make the quilt patterns my Great Grandma Rhoda made. I think the styles went out of fashion (they're on their way back, mark my words) because they are HARD to make. I'm learning to do a version using fusible webbing. The patches in the picture are Pinwheel squares. Easy as store-bought pie! And I have a way to get rid of all the leftover fabric from the car seat blankets I've been making...
2. Kristi and I have decided it's time to sell the car seat blankets we've been making in an easier way. We have an etsy shop that will be up and running by Friday. I'll save all the details for another post, but here are a few pictures of what we've been up to lately. We changed the design quite a bit. I think I might keep the Amy Butler one on the left for myself. I don't need one right now, but still.3. We had guests stay in our basement guest room! My parents were the first official guests since we finished the room. I'm pretty sure it's the most comfortable, wonderful place they've ever stayed. My status as Favorite Child is secure! Remember how I said I was going to paint my grandparents' old headboard? Here is what it looks like now:
Don't you love those vintage ceramic knobs! That's the only thing I really spent any money on for the headboard and they were cheap. Also notice I had a magazine for my Mom's side and poetry and short stories for my Dad. Jealous?! Come stay with me, then.4. Bridget is begging me all day every day to do piano lessons with her. I'm pretty sure it's for the stickers, but I'm wondering what age is too early? This is how she practices (on the piano Cousin Jed gave her for Christmas - I'm on the verge of making a recording for him as a thank you. It will consist of two songs with an awesome beat-box background and I will rig it so that it plays constantly. No mercy!):
And yes, she needs to have all those toys around her to work. In this photo she's playing one of her favorite stories. And wearing a ribbon in her hair and around her neck that I've been trying to throw away for many days now. Hmmm. I thought this list would be longer. It seems longer in real life. Coming soon to this blog - The Backyard! Will we finally clean it up? Will I finish those pillows for the Adirondack chairs I bought last year? Will Brian put all those chairs together. Wait and see.

I'm no songwriter, but I'm sure Bridget could be HUGE...if only she could get piano lessons from someone.

yay! it really hasn't been that long, but i go into withdrawal when you don't blog. i REALLY LOVE that pin-wheel design. i am thinking it might be fun for my virtual quilt block for my month.

Bridget is plenty old enough. Josie will be making her debut in this spring violin recital. Don't worry, I am sure I will post it. Besides, isn't Bridget supposed to take violin lessons??
Everything looks great! And you know what's crazy? My grandparents had that same headboard in their house! I loved the sliding doors and used to play with them when I was a kid. I think Marla has it now.
We're so proud to be the first guests in the completed room! It's just lovely. :) The books and magazines were definitely a thoughtful touch. I'd recommend it to anyone!
I think Bridgie is a little too young for formal piano lessons, but you can teach her the ABC's, then teach her the names of the keys and a few songs by rote. That may keep her busy for a while.
I thought I recognized that headboard. I just thought you found one similar. My favorite thing about Bridget is that she always has her hands FULL of toys/accessories/purses.

I got the knobs from Anthropologie. I had to go on my own little quest to find them on their website, though. Surprisingly they don't have a "knob" category.
