Sew & Tell

I'm not in the club, but I'm going to show my work anyway. For some reason Kristi and I agreed to be in a boutique on Saturday. We agreed a week and a half ago when we had about 12 car seat blankets and (secretly) zero trick-or-treat bags in our etsy shop. (We like to wait for people to order the trick-or-treat bags before we make them.) During the last 10 days I have been stalking innocent fabric stores and completely neglecting my house. I have made 16 bags and 8 car seat blankets. (That doesn't sound like much. Hmmm. I also have 22 piano students and my parents and little brother stayed overnight on Saturday and I had two dinner parties at my house in two days. Now?) Last night my bff had had enough.
She said, "Nicole, I'm dirty and tired. Stop sewing and either go away or clean me." Since she can't use words, she said this by chewing up half a spool of clear thread. Three times.

I got out my manual and figured out how to take a few parts off and clean it. It made me gag. I could have stuffed a small pillow with all the lint. Here are some of the goods:
This was taken a while ago, but I've made the two bags in the picture six times in the last 10 days.
A princess bag! I realized later that it would have matched the perennial princess costume we had when I was little. Remember? Light pink shiny dress with a tin foil crown?!

We're not listing anything new in the etsy shop until after the boutique. All the regular bags match one of the car seat covers and we'll offer them in sets on Saturday and when we feel like it in the shop. :)

You may be asking yourself, "Don't you have a kid?" Bridget has been an angel - she plays contentedly in the office/sewing room or in the family room outside the door. Sometimes she comes in and "helps" me. Last night she helped me measure and cut a bunch of stuff. She even made up a new number, "halfteen."

Wow! I am impressed with all of that work! What great looking bags and blankets! And I am also impressed with how well Bridget plays while you work. Elisabeth amuses herself well also, but Emmett is my anti-work kid. Argh! :)

What a project! Good luck at the boutique. My sister-in-law has made some good money at those. Hope the same is true for you. By the way, I love the red and white blanket.

That's amazing! It would take me halfteen years to make all of that. I hope the boutique goes well and people buy your wares. I miss Bridget. That's all.

Don't forget to mention the fact that you had my kid for two hours today and you were STILL able to get things done. You are my hero.

I remember the perennial pink princess costume! I remember making it and making a new foil crown each year because they're only good for one day. You're bag is much better!

Love, love, love the bags! I think I need to commission a few for Whit. BTW - our family's perennial costume was a lion - can you make a bag for that?

I've been meaning to comment here - there is no club - all you have to do is link over on Fridays! :)

How did the boutique go anyway?
