Family History Photo Monday: Mom at the Piano

My fall piano lessons started last week and I've also been teaching Bridget on a regular basis for a couple of months.  Sometimes I wonder why I do this (besides the cold hard cash, of course).  There is so much joy in music - similar to the Olympic Cry in sports.  Grandma Carol (Mom's mother) could play very well and spent a lot of her high school years accompanying productions and individuals for performances.  Beyond her I don't know where the need for music came from in our family.  What a great gift, though, to need music and to have the desire for others (especially children) to learn to love it, too.

And cheers to the other lady in this photo (on the right).  Mom likes to correct me on my Monday posts, so I thought I'd give her something.  (Ha!)

I'll take the bait. The other girl in the picture is Debbie Marston. She, Clay and I were the accompanists for the music dept. at ISU. The three of us met up (unplanned)at a music workshop a few weeks ago. We are all still teaching piano lessons after forty + years and have taught many hundreds of students between us. I explained to Debbie that I had to be the one to play for Dad's voice lessons when he got home from his mission. Gotta have a plan. :)

Love this picture. Music is truly one of the best things this world has to offer.

My sister in law loved her car seat cover. She went crazy over it. Thanks again.

As I do the daily battle about "why do we have to play this???!!???" in the piano room, I will reflect on this post. YES! It is worth it. Oh please, oh please be worth it!
