Building the Nest, Checking it Twice

We haven't had much time to get ready for twin babies at our house, but I wanted to make sure I made them car seat blankets (duh) and a quilt for each of them.  How smart am I for getting Christmas present quilts done before Thanksgiving.  VERY SMART. :)

I'm pleasantly surprised at how fun it is to make boy stuff.  I don't care if their car seat blankets match their room (which they don't) and I liked this fabric together and with the brown minky on the back.  These car seats are in my bedroom right now (we could leave in three minutes if we have to) and it's a little thrill every time I catch sight of them as I walk around the house.  Mostly aimlessly.

I realize that you can never be totally prepared or get every single thing done that you were hoping to get done before a baby (or two) arrives, but I really really REALLY wanted to make both babies a quilt.  Somehow I was able to get both of these done in the last couple of weeks.  I even washed them in Dreft!  Here they are, modeled in the newly painted nursery (I'm doing a makeover post, I promise) and on the beautiful crib my friend, Andrea, made and is letting me borrow.
Stars!  Yeah.  It's pretty patriotic.  This one has ivory-colored minky on the back:

This one is red on the back.  The color saturation on this original photo would make you go blind.

Can you see the stars in the quilting?  Say what you will about Crazy Wendy, but she did one of these in three days for me.  In December.  Hats off.

This is my only contribution.  I've purchased diapers and formula, but everything else appears on my doorstep when I think about it.  We have two of everything because of the kindness of family and friends.  It's making me cry to think about it.  People are so generous and kind - we really don't deserve it.  We can even feel the prayers.  For real.  I feel lighter knowing so many people are praying for us. :)

What! Are guys getting twin boys? I did not know this. How exciting, and oh boy, are your lives going to change! Wowza!

As you know, I've got twin boys myself...if you need anything, let me know.

Those are the luckiest little boys in the world! Not just because of the sweet carseat blankets and beautiful quilts they can brag about to their buddies, but because they are joining such a wonderful family. Wish I could be there to drop something on your doorstep. I'll just have to keep praying, I guess.

They are just beautiful quilts! The look so snuggly. Just what babies need. All the very best to you.

The things that show up on your porch are because everyone around you loves you and wants to repay you for what you've done for them when they've had babies. Or maybe that's just me talking. Thinking of you lots this week. You better call me when you need something. Not if, but when. :) Love ya!

I want to steal that car seat blanket fabric idea for my sister-in-law that is having a boy in April and using those colors. So cute!

You are so blessed and so are those boys! Everytime I see that your blog has been updated, I'm hoping that it's pictures of the babies at home with you. Come on babies!
