My beautiful and disgustingly talented cousin, Ashley, had a baby girl, Abbey, two weeks before we adopted Bridget. Abbey and Bridget have met twice before. The first time they didn't have their eyes open (it was a bright day and Bridget was five days old - I don't know what Abbey's excuse was). The second time was at Christmas dinner in 2006. They checked out each others bows and sweaters, but no real playing. This may be a thing only to my Mom (Ashley's Dad is my Mom's brother), but when you're the same age as someone else at the party, fate has brought you together to be best friends. For an hour or two anyway.
The thing is, I am WAY older than Ashley (seriously - like ten wrinkly years older), so she and I have never been thrown into a room together and told to play. What a treat for me to now have a child who is the same age as Ashley's child. We stopped by to see them (and the rest of Ashley's wonderful family) on our way to Pocatello last Saturday. Ashley and I had plenty to discuss (we both have princesses with very clear agendas, see) and Abbey and Bridget played. They couldn't agree on who could go down the slide or who got which baby or who got which plate of plastic food, but they could agree on jewels.
(My report on Brian's so far fruitless hunt and my inevitable report of dinner at the Golden Corral and JC Penney's playground will follow.)

They are both beautiful girls!
She's your age! how fun to get them together. they look like they are having a grand time. good thing you took pictures, otherwise they will never know that they are best friends next time you get together.
What cute girls. It is fun to interact with those different aged cousins now that we're all the "same" age, huh? Grown-ups are all the same age. My cousin Linda in Chicago is about 20 years older than me, so I grew up just barely knowing her. We're great friends now.
