I have been instructed to stop doing posts late at night. :)
I'd like to use most of the pictures I took at the ice skating rink yesterday, so we'll let them tell the stories. By the way, this event took place in Midway at their sweet little outdoor ice skating rink.
Getting the skates on.
That's Chloe. She looks apprehensive, don't you think? This is my child. She wore the crown the whole time.
Then we had to get from the bench to the rink. To say I have a whole new respect for ice skaters and hockey players is putting it mildly.
(That's my leg Bridget's hanging on to for dear life.)
So sad and cute at the same time.
Chloe and the MVP, Claire.
Helena (Katy's 4th child) with no help.
This is Anya (Katy's 5th child), limp as a fish, after half a lap around the rink. Isn't she pretty?
Doesn't it look like Harrison is helping Grandma? What a pro.
Matt and Katy look sharp, but they are not good skaters.
Riding the pine with Grandpa after one traumatic lap around the rink.
I don't see this look often, but she is so mad at me right here. Is it wrong that I laughed and took her picture before I picked her up? Come on! She's wearing a crown for crying out loud. :)
For real, Vivien (Katy's 2nd child) is the only person in our whole group who has a future in skating. I could only catch a photo of her taking a breath - too fast.
Don't you hate it when you put on your big sister's pants by mistake and then go to Midway and fall down on the ice a bunch of times and your pants get all wet and heavy and they start falling down? I hate that!
I was so proud of Bridget - she lasted the whole afternoon and only asked me to hold her a few times. And she's a pretty pretty princess.
I can't get over how beautiful she is.
Afterward Harrison made good on his promise to throw a snowball at Grandpa.
Hmmm. Grandpa doesn't seem to be holding back.
Hot cocoa!

Great pics! You do have a pretty, pretty princess.
I've only been ice skating once, and I hated every minute of it. I am very, very clumsy.
YAYAYAYAY! Thank you for taking my kids and for taking sweet pictures of them. Bridget is a pretty ice skating princess.
Ha! So I grew up skating, private lessons, and the whole two bits...and I love it...then I took Jaxon when he was 3...and now I hate it. I think my back still hurts from that particular day. I will let you know when I go again. However, don't hold your breath. It may not be until we are celestial beings in heaven...therefore, celestial ice skaters. How was that for a 5 sentence thesis on why there is no need to go skating in this life.
So cute! I think my Alison has the same crown. I don't know if I could get her in skates though because it's hard to get the princess shoes off.
I was just thinking today that we need to go ice skating - you've inspired me! Now I just need to find a rink.
Skating is only fun when your kids can get themselves out on the ice. Weston took hockey lessons last year and we will not be returning until he can get all that gear on ALL by himself. I hated being in the packed locker room with all of the other stressed out parents looking for the endless amount of tiny little parts involved with the tiny people. And then sitting on the cold bench watching practice. No Thanks. But he can skate.
P.S. Underhand!? Of course Grandpa is holding back!
Yeah, but look how big the snowball is. Hee! Harrison took it like a man, though. He was the only boy with seven girls. :(
My Mom used to skate all the time and she said it was not like riding a bike, Holli. As you can see from the look on her face.
I left a comment, but it didn't take, so I'm doing this again. If you get two from me, that's why.
The princess crown is awesome.
What a fun day. Well fun with a little trauma mixed in. We used to ice skate all the time when I was a kid, but I'm sure I couldn't even stand up straight in skates now. I remember loving it though.
