That is one of the many things Bridget knows about Santa Claus. My only contribution to her Santa education has been the song "Santa Claus is Coming to Town." (Most of my students had that song or "Jingle Bells" and those two songs were stuck in my head for many many days.) Over the course of the Christmas season, Bridget would tell me over lunch or in the car or while taking a bath, "Santa has a list."
Me: "Oh, really?"
Bridget: "Yeah. A Nice List and a Naughty List."
Me: "Wow. Are you on the Nice List or the Naughty List."
Bridget: "I'm a nice list."
One day we were driving around American Fork and we saw him in a hot air balloon. Bridget knew this was huge because Mommy freaked out and pulled over just so we could watch him for a few minutes. For the rest of that day Bridget said, "He needs to GET OUT of the balloon." She told me she needed to help him and she needed to tell him to bring her a kitchen and a 'puter (a computer). After we saw Santa in the balloon, Bridget was all about sitting on his lap and telling him everything.
Then he came to the family party. Of course, Bridget wouldn't sit on Santa's lap or talk to him or look at him. It was very scary. The moment he left, she said to me and Grandma, "Santa's big."
Interesting. Santa sees you when you're sleeping, knows when you're awake, etc., and he was really small in that hot air balloon. Surely Santa would fit in your pocket. Instead, he was a big man.
Now Bridget talks about him like she was so in that moment. "Santa has a hat. Santa wears glasses. Santa has a belt. Santa has a beard. Santa's so nice." Bridget and Santa are cool.
