First of all, make sure you scroll back up and check out
Amy's blog today. I know I'm going to. :)
I should save this post for Friday, but I can't wait. Amylouwho issued an
Amy Butler Challenge almost a month ago and I was kind of sad because I'd just done a really cool little quilt with Amy Butler fabric and I'd also just assessed the stash and put myself on a fabric fast. But I couldn't stand to do
nothing. I have a sweet friend who is recently obsessed with making skirts for her little girl, so I had her teach me. By the time we got to the hard parts (every part of making clothes is hard to me, but whatever) it was late and I was delirious. Every time I tried to gather the skirt, my thread would break. Swear words.
That first draft was okay, but I knew I could do better. I used my full punch card at Material Girls this morning and bought enough of my favorite Amy Butler fabric (the blue) plus a few prints I haven't used yet. Then I came home and busted out the cutest skirt in the world. IN THE WORLD. Bridget sang show tunes and worked on her art.

That's right, I had her pose on my Amy Butler quilt to show how unfair it was to have an Amy Butler Challenge a few weeks after finishing that quilt. |

Orange is my color these days. Now she's standing on the back of the quilt. |

Bridget wanted to keep it on and show everyone she knows. Best compliment ever. :)

aaaahhhhh!! totally worth the swearing, no? of course, the fabric does most of the work in amy butler cases, but this skirt is too adorable.
i hope you like emma's skirt that i made today! it is out of the daisy chain stuff.
Both the skirt and the quilt are beautiful! Not to mention your model! :)
SO SO SO CUTE! I love it! I need to make another skirt like this for alison, I love the mixy-matchiness of it all. Great job!
Wow! That is absolutely adorable. You are the best mom EVER!
Get that kid an agent! (The skirt is adorable. This is the perfect time to start learning to sew clothes - when they still love everything you make.)
Seriously cute skirt! That is one precious little girl. I heart her. And her skirt. And her mom.
In the UNIVERSE. Adorable!
So much LOVEliness is one post!!!! Cute skirt, even cuter model. Love your colour choices for the skirt. The quilt is awesome.
I would wear it all day and show everyone, too! It's adorable, especially on her.
WOW! I'm in love with your quilt, the skirt, and you ADORABLE model! Okay, but that quilt is AMAZING!
I totally understand your gathering/broken thread drama and swearing. I went through the same thing with the ruffles on my bag, and I finally just filled a bobbin with my hand quilting thread (which is a lot stronger than "regular" thread) and just sewed with that on my machine and then tugged to make the ruffle. It worked great!
Your quilt is just gorgeous. And I love your daughter's skirt! :o) She is so pretty helping you display your beautiful creations. :o)
wow! love the quilt and the skirt. thanks for sharing both!
The skirt looks great! I'm glad that you added the picture of your amazing quilt. It is the most beautiful quilt that I've ever seen.
Beautiful! And I love those orange polka dots. And that quilt? Hello Amazing! Glad you sneaked it into this post. I'm going to have to try a skirt like that, I love the three prints together and it just looks like the perfect twirly skirt!

I love how you mixed the navy blue and orange. Your quilt is beautiful too and your daughter is adorable. It makes me feal so good that my daughter loves the clothes I make her so I have a good idea of how you are feeling too!
All three are adorable!! And isn't that the best compliment to have her want to wear it all day?
What a beautiful girl!! Wow, I am so jealous, an amazing skirt and such an awesome quilt! I love that the skirt had three different prints, too!
So stinkin' cute! Both the girl and the skirt. Love the quilt, and yes it is very unfair...
