Family History Photo Monday: Sunday at Grandma's in January 1978
Today is my sister Allyn's birthday! I don't have much time to dig through my archives for an embarrassing picture, so I'm going to post this one instead. This is a tiny "proof" that was in with a bunch of other more photo-album-worthy pictures. It's labeled "1-8-1978" in Grandpa Furniss's precise handwriting. We're sitting on the couch in Grandma and Grandpa's front room:
Even at Grandma's house with more helping hands, this still looks pretty chaotic, which is how I remember the Sundays of my childhood. It must have been near impossible to keep everyone in clothes that fit - I'm guessing that's why I'm wearing a shorty-short dress. And what do you want to bet that Katy is so done with that apple and she's thinking about where to put it now... Anyway, just a moment in time that was captured by Grandpa that is bringing back sweet memories today.

Remember the good old days when you had bangs all around your head and Katy was Asian? Memories . . .
HB, Allyn! Looks like you were a very suspicious baby.
That was a really cute little-girl hairstyle! As for the shorty-short dress, that was a brand that always had really long sleeves and very short skirts. A friend who worked in the children's dept. at Block's said she was sure they used monkeys for models.
Allyn was such a sweet baby!
Hahahahaha! I'm the opposite of a monkey, too - short arms and longer torso.
I bet Katy is also wondering what she did with her skirt? Or maybe not. Kids don't always care about that.
Look how light your hair was!
but look how cute mom looks!
thanks for posting this. i didn't see it until tuesday, but it is very sweet.
katy does look pretty hoss with that wife-beater undershirt and the crotch sliding tights. that apple probably ended up under the couch.
Enjoying this so much :) Hilarious. I'm in this picture, too...can you find me? (Just my skirt)
I noticed that skirt and didn't even think about you being in it, but DUH, of course. Mom is surrounded.
This is the cutest thing ever! It really does look chaotic, even though we are sitting still. It was probably the 1/16th of a second that we WERE sitting still. I totally noticed Jennie's dress on the couch! Mom looks great-she always does-but to me it's so impressive that she always looks classy and "together" in old pictures from when we were little. Where did she find the time to fix that 'do every day?
