Some kids get to this age (I'm thinking six years-old) and pose with big smiles for every camera. That's me with my lovely Grandma Carol Furniss (in front of the apple tree in their backyard - maybe on the very spot where she fell off a ladder and broke her leg many years after this photo was taken). That's just my face - a little mean, but not completely menacing. This is probably one of the times when I got to stay at Grandma's all by myself for a few days in the summer. That would explain the tator tot shorts and vacation from doing my hair. I love that Grandma is wearing a skirt and a cute blouse. I also love this view of their backyard. Just the way I remember it.
(Sorry for the hit-and-miss of the family history photos the last few weeks. I'm working on other stuff that is taking time, see. :))

I love your observation about Grandma's outfit - she was always so put together! Subconsciously, I suppose I knew this. But thinking of it now, I realize what a feat this is! I don't think the same will be said for my photos in 30 years...
She was a classy broad. What a sweet picture. I love the light coming through the apple tree.
I do love the romantic lighting of the picture. Very nostalgic. Were you already doing gymnastics by this age? Those are some mean quads.
Happy memories. You look like a flower child.
