It's not officially Sew & Tell Friday today, but I finished something. (Now it
is officially
Sew & Tell Friday at Amy's. Go look at her new bird quilt! Amazing.) It took over a month for something that usually takes me a few hours, but it was so nice to have it to work on when I had those two quiet moments in the last month and a half. No, really. I've said before that sewing/quilting is meditation for me and even getting a few minutes here and there to make something Spring-y for my dining room table was therapeutic for me. If I'd known it was going to take me so long, I would have started the other projects I was hoping to finish before certain babies make their debut...
Enough tell, how about some show. I used a layer cake of 3 Sisters "Oasis" fabric for the petals - pinks only, some left over Kate Spain "Verna" fabric on the trim and a woven plaid of 3 Sisters "Martinique" on the back. When I went to find one of the Oasis fabrics for the back, the Old Hag at the almost closest quilt store told me that they didn't order that fabric because 3 Sisters hasn't been "cute and fun" for such a long time. Boooo. Why? Why so angry? (The woman helping me also told me she saw the Octomom on Oprah because I had the twins with me. I feel like she totally gets me now that she's seen that interview with a single woman who has 14 children.) Whoa! Time to get off this digression, eh?

Having this table topper actually encourages me to clean up the table every night before I go to bed. |

Hopefully you can't tell now, but I forgot to quilt one of the petals and I had it washed and on the table before I noticed. (I went back and quilted it because it was driving me NUTS.) |

The binding is also leftover "Martinique" fabric. |

Several of my friends have done pumpkin seed runners for their dining room tables (so easy - you really should do one) and it makes me so happy to see. Even small quilts brighten the day. :)

now you see why i am so astonished when you say you finished a project so fast. something a normal person would take a month to finish. it is beautiful and CONGRATULATIONS for finishing something.
Oh my gosh, Easter is my favorite time of year because of that candy (and the Cadbury Cream Eggs)! Ahhhhhhh!!!
I really love what you did, the quilting is so beautiful, and you made me laugh what you said about the mean lady at the quilt store!
Lovely! A beautiful pumpkin seed table topper!
So beautiful! I love the colors/fabrics that you used.
So elegant and pretty! I want to eat it up. :) Stopped over from Sew & Tell
Really lovely! I had to laugh because the unfinished petal would have bothered me in bed at night too ;o)
