What We Do in the Spring Time

I haven't done a whole lot of reporting lately.  Emil and Colin are so busy while they're awake, so I wait until they go down for a nap so I can eat without getting pushed away from the bar, fold laundry without the two of them unfolding the laundry, clean the floors without Colin grabbing at the mop and Emil walking through the wet floor.  You know, the usual.

Yesterday afternoon I was feeling heroic, so we went to the park.  Bridget bravely ran over to Kodi's house to see if she wanted to come.  (She came back once because there were boys playing in Kodi's yard.)  While the girls were going crazy sliding and yelling and running, I put Emil and Colin down to see what they would do.
Emil found some stairs he could climb and yelled loudly.  "WHAT IS THIS PLACE?!  I LOVE IT HERE!!  I WANT TO EAT ALL THESE BARK CHIPS!"  He was crazy.  Every time I got close to him he would take off.  He did let me put him on one leg (Colin on the other) to go down the slide a few times.
Colin was much more cautious.  He took me by the hand and wanted me to come with him everywhere.  (That reminds me a lot of Bridget.  She always had my hand.  She still takes my hand when we are going up the stairs at the same time.)  Colin also wanted to keep track of Bridget and Kodi.
It was a rather blustery day yesterday.  Good thing - I can never get Colin's hair to stay "done."  He needs stronger product in it.
Bridget was really sick last week.  Her temperature got up to 106 degrees!  She had strep and the doctor had to give her a penicillin shot.  It was the worst thing that has ever happened.  Ever.  It's so nice to see her back to normal and having fun again.
There was only one baby swing, so I put Emil in first.  He laughed and laughed.  Swinging was awesome.  Then I switched and put Colin in the swing.  He grabbed the front of the swing and put his head on his hands and cried until it was over.  Are all twins this different?

Every morning I leave the twins in bed while I help Bridget get ready for school.  Sometimes they're sleeping, most of the time they're awake and chatting with each other or banging on the walls.  They stay in their cribs until Bridget's hair is done and she's dressed and eating breakfast.  Colin loves to run out of his room (after I've finally changed his diaper and put him on the floor) to say hi to "Zi-dette?"  (It always sounds like a question.)  Then Emil and Colin wait with Bridget by the window until a friend comes by to walk her to the bus stop.
Can you see the contraption I came up with on the left to keep the boys from climbing into the window and onto the piano?  Every time I think my house is baby proof, my babies prove me wrong.  We never even needed locks on the cabinet doors with Bridget.  And look how big Emil's bum is in those shark pajamas.  Hahahaha!  Everything he does makes me laugh.  Have I mentioned before that Colin can do Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes?  Adorable.
Bridget always waves to them once she's out on the sidewalk.  Can you tell Colin is smiling and waving?  Nothing to do now but wait until she gets home, eh?

I love Kodi's facial expression in the first picture. Tee hee!

I'm so glad you got to go to the park. I felt badly the timing didn't work out for you yesterday to "join the lot of us."

Oh my goodness they are all so squishable! I love taking my kids to the park in the spring to see what they can do now, you know? It's like Bambi when Spring comes and all the animals are grown up and chasing each other.

So glad Bridget made it out alive (from being sick). Those boys are so funny. Gabriel can't handle the swings either, I think because he's not in control. Does Colin need control, too?
I love their good-bye rituals:)
